Mental Health Awareness Week - Be kind to yourself and others

Updated: Nov 12, 2020

The theme that has been chosen for the week in these uncertain times is Kindness. All over the world acts of kindness have been prevailing – helping others is also good for our own mental health and wellbeing. It can help reduce stress and improve emotional wellbeing.

Acts of kindness to inspire you:

  • Call a friend who you haven’t spoken to in a while

  • Arrange to watch a film at the same time as a friend and video call

  • Tell someone you know why you are thankful for them

  • Make a cup of tea for someone you live with

  • Give praise to someone you live with for something they are doing well

  • Donate to food banks/charity

  • Offer to support someone vulnerable

  • Reach out to anyone who you might know is experiencing loneliness or isolation

It is important to remember to also be kind to yourself, know your limitations and don’t go beyond your personal resources.

We would love to hear any stories of kindness you could share with us! Join the national campaign for Mental Health Awareness Week run by the Mental Health Foundation by sharing on social media using the hashtags #KindnessMatters and #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek
